Let's Turn Etobicoke-Lakeshore Blue!

Humber River Bridge

I am running to be the Candidate for the Conservative Party of Canada in Etobicoke-Lakeshore for the next federal election.  I was honoured to represent the people of Etobicoke-Lakeshore in Parliament from 2011 to 2015, and it would be an honour to do so again. It is time for a new Conservative government with a focus on economic growth, fiscal responsibility, public safety and a strong Canada on the world stage.

Why am I running?

Soon after being elected in 2011, I was interviewed by journalist/broadcaster Catherine Clark who asked me why I decided to run in that election, despite the fact barely anybody thought I had a chance of defeating the then leader of the Official Opposition. My answer then: it was more important for me to play a part in helping elect the government I wanted than it was for me to win my seat. Government is a team effort and the outcome has enormous potential to change the course of people’s lives for the better. I had been involved as a volunteer to support other candidates in election after election, some successful and some less so, and I felt it was my time then to step up and lead the effort in my community. My answer now is the same.

Why should Conservatives in Etobicoke-Lakeshore choose me as their candidate?

  1. My broad range of experience in business, politics and public affairs provides me with the skills and demeanor to be effective in representing all members of our community in Parliament. I have lived in various parts of Canada and abroad, and I have led business strategy and change efforts across multiple sectors. I appreciate the hard work, ingenuity and creativity that go into organizational decisions every hour of every day. These decisions are the gears that drive a modern, complex economy and create the basis for our standard of living. I believe that government has a critical role to play in keeping taxes low, attracting investment and creating the conditions for a successful economy. All of the parts of our society need to fit together, and rather than represent one faction, my approach is to take a big-picture view to help make it all work together.

  2. My previous experience in Parliament means I can hit the ground running. As a Member of Parliament, I held Parliamentary Secretary roles for Public Works and for Foreign Affairs and La Francophonie. I have a strong sense of how to be effective in Parliament to get things done. I communicated across various channels (in English and French) so that people can understand the government’s policy direction, the reasons behind it, and what it would it mean for them. If elected, I’m ready.

  3. Etobicoke-Lakeshore will be competitive. I can provide us with the edge to win the riding. Even though current polls show that Canadians are ready for a change of government, Conservatives always face an uphill battle in Toronto. We have to earn every vote. This means building a team, having a plan and working tirelessly to meet voters. This means working community networks to get the word out and convincing people to trust me with their vote. If nominated I will take nothing for granted. Nominate me and we’ll get the job done!
